Kids PB&J Sandwich

You can’t go wrong with a classic PB&J…unless you’re out of jam! Have no fear, you can make it at home. And, it’ll taste much better than the store bought stuff.

Ingredients:

  • Noe Valley Bakery sliced wheat
  • Jam (directions below)
  • 1 pound mixed berries (blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • a pinch of salt

Jam Directions:

Mash everything together with a potato masher or fork and cook in a high heat resistant bottom pot, stirring frequently until fruit is thick and jammy for about 25 minutes. Turn off heat, pour jam into 8 ounce glass jars, cool and seal.

Recipe can be made with frozen fruit, just allow an extra hour of cooking time and don’t worry about mashing the berries.

In a jam and lacking fruit? These pantry alternatives pair well with peanut butter: mashed bananas, agave, honey, or maple syrup.
